It attracts about 3.5 million passengers every year because of the excellent road links it has with the rest of the U.K, and its Britain’s best connected port, with up to seven routes linking Britain with France, the Channel Islands and Spain.

Portsmouth ferry port has a multi-storey (24 hour) car park providing 516 passenger parking spaces, within easy reach of the main LD Lines ferry terminal. Disabled parking facilities are also available inside and outside the multi-storey car park and additional bays are available near the main LD Lines terminal building itself.

Historic Dockyard:
Portsmouth’s historic dockyard is home to three world famous ships, The Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860.The Mary Rose, which was Henry VIII's favourite warship, sank in 1545, but was raised from the sea in 1982 and is the only 16th century surviving warship on display today.
HMS Victory is the world’s oldest commissioned warship, used by Lord Nelson in the Battle of Trafalgar (1805) to defeat the combined fleet of French and Spanish.
The latest addition to the historic dockyard is the HMS Warrior 1860, which is the world’s first iron clad battleship and one of the largest and fastest warships at the time.
In addition to these, there are about 12 museums testifying the important role of Portsmouth in World War II.
Charles Dickens birth place:
The famous writer; Charles Dickens, was born in a modest house in Portsmouth in 1812. The house has miraculously survived and is now preserved as a museum, furnished in the style of 1809 which is when John and Elizabeth Dickens set up the first home of their married life.
Gunwharf Quays and Spinnaker tower:
Landscaped in to a historic setting, Gunwharf Quays bring the old and the new together. There are over 95 designer outlets to shop till you drop, 20 cosmopolitan bars and restaurants to relax by the quay side, a 14 screen cinema and a bowlplex, a comedy club, a disco and a lot more.
The Spinnaker Tower situated on the waterfront of Gunwharf Quays, is a 170 meter tall tower with awe-inspiring views overlooking the historical Portsmouth harbour and the Solent.
